Dr
Leigh Tooth is a Senior Research Fellow with
the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health,
based at the University of Queensland. A graduate in
Occupational Therapy, Leigh has had both a clinical
and research career. Her clinical specialty was adult
physical rehabilitation, in particular neurology and
rheumatology. Her research interests have included doctoral
research on the impact of individually tailored education
on quality of life, risk factor behaviour and knowledge
in people undergoing coronary angioplasty. From 1999
to 2003, Leigh undertook a National Health and Medical
Council of Australia (NHMRC) Public Health Fellowship,
during which she investigated the short and long term
functional and community outcomes of people following
stroke. Following this she was a NHMRC Fellow with the
Longitudinal Studies Unit in the School of Population
Health researching statistical methodology and teaching
into the epidemiology program. Her research interests
include outcome evaluation, longitudinal methods, quality
of life, comorbidity and epidemiology.
